Imam Mahdi’s (PBUH) signs

Imam Sajjad (PBUH) said: “Our Qa’im has signs from six prophets:

1- a sign from Noah (PBUH);

2- a sign from Ibrahim (PBUH);

3- a sign from Jesus (PBUH);

4- a sign from Moses (PBUH);

5- a sign from Jacob (PBUH);

6- a sign from Muhammad (PBUH).”

 “But his sign from Noah (PBUH) is the long life; his sign from Ibrahim (PBUH) is the secrecy of his birthplace; his sign from Moses (PBUH) is his fear of enemy and absence that Moses (PBUH) left Egypt to Midian due to his fear of Pharaoh and his army and was hidden for a while; his sign from Jesus (PBUH) is dispute among people about him and his seclusion from people; his sign from Jacob (PBUH) is his victory over problems and troubles; and his sign from Muhammad (PBUH) is his insurrection by sword.”

( The book of A’alam al-Vara, p. 290)

In some narrations a sign from Joseph (PBUH) is mentioned and that is being imprisoned.

The incredible glory and strength of Imam Mahdi (PBUH)

Imam Reza (PBUH) says in a narration: “Qa’im is the one who is old at the time of his Reappearance but has a young face; and he has that much physical strength that if he lays his hand on the biggest tree on Earth, he would uproot it and if he raises his voice among mountains, mountain rocks would turn into pieces. He has the Staff of Moses and the Seal of Solomon with him.”

(Kashf al-Ghumma, 3:445, Ea’lam al-Wara 407)

At Imam Jawad's (PBUH) class

Saqar ibn abi Dulaf says: “I heard Imam Jawad (PBUH) saying: “The Imam after me is my son, Ali (Hadi)… and the Imam after him is his son, Hassan (Askari)…” Then he remained silent. I said: “O son of the messenger of Allah! Who is the Imam after Hassan?” He cried severely and said: “After Hassan, his son who rises rightfully and people await for him.”

I said: “Why is he called Qa'im?” He said: “Because after he is forgotten and most of people who believe in his Imamate become apostate, he rises.” I said: “Why is he called the Awaited?”

He said: “Because he will have an Occultation, the duration of which will be long and the days of which will be many. The sincere people will wait for his rising, and those in doubt will deny him and will ridicule his remembrance and those who set a time for his Reappearance are liars and those who hasten will be destroyed; and those who are submissive will be saved.””

(Kamal al-Din and Tamam al-Nimeh, Ch. 36, Hadith 3)

Unity in the words of Imam Hassan (PBUH)

Umairah, the daughter of Nufail, said: “I heard Imam Hassan (PBUH) saying that: “The affair you are waiting for (the Reappearance of Imam Mahdi (PBUH)) will not take place, till a group of you dislike the other, and a group of you curse other group, and some of you spit at the face of others, and one group of you declare disbelief against others.”

Umairah said: “I asked Imam Hassan (PBUH): “Then, there is no goodness in that time.” Imam Hassan (PBUH) replied: “All the goodness is in that time, because our Qa’im will rise in that time and will do away with all of that (agonizing disputes)”.”

(Al-Ghayba al-Tusi, Hadith 429)

Yes, the only cure for our pain is the Reappearance….

Mahdavi prayer of Imam Ali (PBUH)

Kumayl says: “Imam Ali (PBUH) took my hand and we went outside of Kufa, when he came to the desert and the flat land, he sighed deeply and coldly and said:

 “O Allah, the Earth will never be empty of someone who "stablishes the religion of Allah by reason and proof", whether overtly and in public, or fearfully and in obscurity, so that the clear proofs and reasons of Allah may not become false or vanish. How many are they and where? I swear by Allah that they are few in number, but they have such a high rank before Allah that through them He preserves His proofs and signs…

In this world, they live with bodies whose spirits are linked to the divine world, they are the vicegerents of Allah on the Earth and they invite to His religion. Ah! and alas! How I love to meet them, O Kumayl…””

 ( Nahj al-Balagha, saying No.147)

Considering the Reappearance as far is forbidden

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “Mahdi (PBUH) is one of us, Ahl-al-Bayt, Allah will reform his affair (the Reappearance) overnight.” (Kamal al-Din, ch. 6)

Imam Hussein (PBUH) said: “Allah will reform his affair (the Reappearance) overnight.” (Kamal al-Din, ch. 30)

Imam Sadiq (PBUH) said: “Be more hopeful about what you have no hope for it rather than what you have hope; because Moses ibn Imran went to provide fire for his family, but when he returned, he was a prophet and a messenger and Allah reformed the affair of His servant and prophet, Moses, in one night. And Allah will do the same with Qa’im, the twelfth Imam, and will reform his affair in one night… He will bring him out from confusion and Occultation into the light of deliverance and Reappearance.” (Kamal al-Din, ch. 6)

This is the result of considering the Reappearance as near:

Imam Baqir (PBUH) and Imam Sadiq (PBUH) said: “Those who consider the Reappearance as near are saved.” (Al-Ghayba al-Nu’mani, ch. 11)

The Ulema’s  dignity in the time of the Occultation

Imam Hadi (PBUH) said:

 “If the scholars, who guide and invite people towards Imam Mahdi (PBUH) in the time of his Occultation and make the weak people free form Satan and his companions and the Nasibis’ traps, had not been available at the time of Occultation of Imam Mahdi (PBUH), no one could have followed the God`s path.

But these scholars take control of the believer’s hearts just like a captain who takes control of a ship. These scholars are highly ranked in the sight of God.

( Moajam ahadith-al-Imam al Mahdi; volume 6)

Paradise is eager for him…

One of the characteristics of Imam Mahdi (PBUH) is that prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

 “Paradise is eager for four of my progeny who Allah loves them and has ordered me to love them:

1- Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (PBUH). 2- Imam Hassan (PBUH). 3- Imam Hussein (PBUH). 4- Imam Mahdi (PBUH) that Prophet Jesus (PBUH) will pray behind him.”

 (Ithbat al-Hudat, 7/103)

The amiable and pleasant characteristics…

Imam Reza (PBUH) said:

 “Imam (PBUH) for the people:

- is more deserving (to decide for them)

- is kinder than their fathers and mothers

- is more modest before God than everybody else

- he first fulfills what he commands people to do

- he is the first to avoid  what he prohibits people to do”

(Ilzam al Naseeb, page 10 )

Imam Mahdi’s countenance

Once, Imam Ali (PBUH) looked at Imam Hussein and said: “This son of mine is a Sayyed (sir, master) just like prophet Mohammad called him Sayyed, and no doubt that Allah will bring a man from his descendants which has the same name as your Prophet and he is alike prophet Mohammed (PBUH) in terms of appearance and attitude. When people live in negligence and truth is violated and dead and oppression is revealed, he will rise.

I swear to Allah if he doesn't rise, he will be beheaded. The residents of heaven will be happy of his rise. He has a high forehead and a big nose, an athletic abdomen, slim thighs and revealing teeth that will spread the justice on earth while it has been filled with oppression.

( Ithbat al-Hudat, 7/238)
