Al-Iftitah prayer

Among various prayers in the blessed month of Ramadan, we find some prayers concerning Imam Mahdi (PBUH) in which the request for the Reappearance of the Imam is mentioned. Since Imam Mahdi’s (PBUH) request from us is to pray a lot for the Reappearance and Ramadan is the month of prayers’ approval, reciting this prayer is recommended for every night of this month.

Talking to Shias, Imam Mahdi (PBUH) wrote: “Recite this prayer every night of Ramadan because the angels listen to it and ask Allah to forgive the reciter of it.” (Al-Sahifa al-Mahdiya, part 5)

This prayer includes beautiful concepts and meanings, and especially provides us valuable information about Imam Mahdi (PBUH) and portrays a beautiful picture of the after the Reappearance world. How good it is to pay attention to its translation while reciting this prayer. This prayer is also presented in Mafatih al-Jinan.

The Ziyarat of “Aal e Yasin”

The Ziyarat of Aal e Yasin, is one of the most important Ziyarats of Imam Mahdi (PBUH). In the second volume of the book Al-Ihtijaj, Shaykh Tabarsi says: “(This) has been issued from the holy existence of Imam Mahdi (PBUH), after answering to the questions of Mr Muhammad Hamiri:

“In the name of Allah, the Compassionate the Merciful. Neither you ponder it, nor accept it from divine people. This is a complete and expressive wisdom. However, warning will not avail for the people who do not believe... Whenever you intend to face towards Allah and towards us, with our help, say as Allah has said:

“Peace bean upon the progeny of Yasin, Peace been upon you O the caller of Allah and manifestation of His signs…”

(The complete text of Ziyarat of Aal e Yasin is available in the Ziyarats section of Mafatih Al-Jinan. This prayer includes beautiful and passionate phrases about Imam Mahdi (PBUH).)

The prayer at the time of the Occultation

Imam Sadiq (PBUH) says: “At that time (the era of the Occultation), the infidels will start having doubts and illusions. Oh Zorareh, if you live in that era, pray this Doa:

( al-Kafi, volume 1, page 337, hadith 5)

The prayer of the Occultation era is narrated by the first deputy of Imam Mahdi (PBUH). Since The Nawab-e-Arba’a (Four deputies of Imam Mahdi) normally never narrated anything from themselves, so the scholars believe that this prayer has been narrated directly from Imam Mahdi (PBUH) himself and also late Sheikh al-Saduq has narrated this Dua for Imam Mahdi (PBUH). Sayed Bin Tawus also quotes this Dua and says that: “If you could not pray this Dua, pray the Duas of Friday afternoon, so, do not miss reciting this Dua.”

Ziarat Imam Mahdi (PBUH) at Friday

Friday is dedicated to Imam Mahdi (PBUH) and under his title. It is recommended in Mafatih al-Jinan to recite this Ziarat for Imam Mahdi (PBUH) at this esteemed day:

Peace be upon you, O the Proof of Allah on His earth! Peace be upon you, O the eye of Allah within His creatures. Peace be upon you, O the light of Allah by which the guided people are guided on the right path, and the sorrow and pain of the believers are wiped off! Peace be upon you, O pure and afraid of the disturbance of the time! Peace be upon you, O benevolent comrade! Peace be on you, O the ark of salvation! Peace be upon you, O the essence of life! Peace be upon you. Blessings of Allah be upon you and your pure and pious fathers. Peace be upon you. May Allah hasten what He has promised to you of victory and establishment of your affair. Peace be upon you, O my master! I am your friend and follower, well aware of your priority in the world and hereafter. I seek nearness to Allah through you and your fathers. I am awaiting your appearance and prevalence of the truth through you.

I request Allah to send blessings on Muhammad and the progeny of Muhammad, and to include me with those who are awaiting you, those who follow you and support you against your enemies, and those who will be martyred in front of you in the group of your loyalists. O my master! O the owner of the time! Blessings of Allah be upon you and your fathers. Today is Friday, the day you are expected to come; and bring relief to the believers and kill the pagans with your sword. On this day, O my master, I am your guest and in your asylum and you, my master, are generous and the descendant of the generous people and commanded by Allah to be hospitable and friendly. So accept me and give me asylum. May Allah’s blessing be upon you and your pure fathers.

Prayer for the Reappearance of Imam Mahdi (PBUH) in the qunut of prayer

Shahid al-Awwal (The First Martyr-Muhammad Jamaluddin al-Makki al-Amili) says in the book of Dhekra: “Ibn Abi Aghil has selected this prayer for Qonut which has been narrated from Imam Ali (PBUH)” and it is the following:

He also says: “I was told that Imam Sadiq (PBUH) ordered the Shias to recite this prayer in Qonut after the Words of Opening (There is no god But God who is The Patient and The Munificent…).”

(Bihar al-Anwar, vol 85, p 207)

Praying for the Reappearance of Imam Mahdi (PBUH) after the night prayer (not to be confused with the ‘isha prayer)

After the fourth Rak’a of the night prayer, make two thanks Sujuds and in each of them, recite a hundred times, “Whatever Allah wants, Whatever Allah wants (ما شآءَ اللَّهُ)” Then, recite this prayer:

“Oh, my Lord! You are Allah (God); You make anything You want, happen. So, deliver salutations of peace to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his progeny, and put, in whatever You want for me, the fact that You hasten the Reappearance of the progeny of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) –peace be upon him and them-, and that, You make my relief and my brothers’ relief at the same time as the relief of the progeny of Muhammad (PBUH). And do “this and that” for me.” And instead of the words “this and that,” pray for whatever you like.
